Before we begin this tour, I’d like to thank my friend Rachel from Maison de Pax for having me. I’ve known her for about three years now and we hang out at Haven each year. We are French lovers (wait, we love French things we are not lovers) anyway let’s move on.
Welcome to Vancouver (AKA the Wet Coast), it’s just stopped raining long enough for me to take some photos outside.
This is my new-to-me house (Sweet Little Bungalow) and this is its first fall tour probably ever. There is still plenty to do for curb appeal outside but I’ve added some mums, white pumpkins (I scoured the town and found odd ones here and there in little florist shops) and, of course, crocks (because I’m obsessed with crocks) holding florals that resemble vegetables. The salesperson at the garden centre I went to made sure to tell me not to eat them, they just resemble vegetables. Point taken although I was aware this wasn’t a grocery store.
(Side note: at the time this post was published, white pumpkins galore in every store. Of course.)
So let’s take a tour inside and I’ll show you how I decorated for fall without using any orange (because I’m not a fan) and instead chose purple and green, totally not fall colors or are they?
Welcome to the living room. The seating area by the window has a bit of a vaulted ceiling as you can tell. It’s a quaint little spot.
I’ve been obsessing over this seeded eucalyptus this season. The color is perfect with the heirloom pumpkins.
I still have to fix this broken mirror but for now it adds character.
The little corner by the window has purple/blue hydrangeas from my garden. I clipped them this summer for my kitchen details post.
Now let’s take you to the dining room where I’ve decorated my table with more purple hydrangea and a beautiful purple linen tablecloth I purchased in St. Emilion, France this year.
This is a tip that I stole from Heather Bullard from my trip to France, she used French yogurt jars to hold candles.
The French love their yogurt and most are sold in glass jars and it’s the best yogurt you’ll ever taste.
Anyway, I brought a bunch back (cleaned jars, not the yogurt) but I also found some French yogurt at my Whole Foods store.
I added epsom salts to hold the pillar candles.
I made a simple place card with a kraft tag, jute twine and a sprig of seeded eucalyptus.
The centrepiece is very simple with white pumpkins, hydrangeas and eucalyptus on two metal trays (so funny, I just realized that post was a competition between Rachel and I!)
