Spring Tour of the Kitchen + Video

Come take a peek at my first spring tour of my kitchen.

Spring Tour of the Kitchen - So Much Better With Age

I moved in to this house last year in April so this is its official first spring tour.

It’s also the start of a few spring tours I have lined up for you this month as well as some fun and beautiful spring projects.

So let’s begin this first spring tour!

I’m also participating in a blog hop hosted by Jen at Decor Gold Designs and Randi of Randi Garrett Designs. Be sure to visit the other spring tours at the end of this post.

A white kitchen with an Eiffel Tower on the counter.

I’m really enjoying my new kitchen. I can’t believe how big it is taking those two walls down and adding massive island and this counter (that was once an eating area) is the perfect baking area.

Pink flowers in a crock by the window.

The big windows let in so much natural light!

White kitchen shelves with glasses and artwork on the counter.

These pink hyacinths look so pretty in this green sap bucket that I’ve had for years.

Having a big kitchen island was always a dream of mine and I’m so happy it’s now a reality.

A large white kitchen island with lights hanging above it.

I bring my laptop down here to do work and the kids can do homework while I cook dinner.

My French inspired kitchen doesn’t need much for spring, just some beautiful pink flowers.

Even though when we took down two walls and put in a big header, I still had to have this post in the corner of the island. I was so disappointed!

Unfortunately, the ceiling boards started to run in a diagonal position right beyond where the big header was put in. So even there is a header, the post had to stay in the island.

It was the post or another header that would have to go straight through the window which meant a smaller window.

And I didn’t want to get rid of this big picture window that was letting in soo much light!

There is a mixer on the counter in the kitchen.

All in all, this huge kitchen renovation was worth it and I’m so happy with all the details.

It’s been especially fun decorating my kitchen for spring.

I hope you enjoyed the first spring tour of my kitchen!

  1. Hi Jamie~
I think that some women can be very catty. If you have something more then them they might not be very nice to you.
It doesn’t have to be material things either. If you are pretty (which you are) that will make them jealous. If you have an amazing husband (which I do) they become jealous of your relationship.
After many years of going through this I have learned to step away from these kind of women.
As your blog is called “So much better with age” it is true. As you grow in your life you start to grow in the people you chose to be in it.
    Wishing you a wonderful day.
    Much love,
    Rose

  2. Your kitchen is gorgeous! The windows, the counters, the shelves…I love it all!

You do only get one life and we shouldn’t spend that short time on earth feeling down about ourselves. We are all just amazing in our own way. I didn’t find your thoughts to be cliche at all.

  3. I applaud you for your transparency AND willingness to encourage other women thru your blog posts. It makes me wonder who blew out your candle. At one time I was holding a candle without a flame so I know it happens. Once I was able to see I had worth I began to want other women to know too, just like you are doing. That was 45 yrs ago and my passion to bring God’s beauty and balance to the women around me has never waned although the platform from which I do that has changed thru the decades. There is so much beauty to enjoy and share in this world. I enjoy coming to your little corner of the world and seeing your beautiful home and spirit. May God Bless you and yours.

    1. Thank you for your sweet, sweet comment Rose. It made MY day. That was about my ex-husband and it’s hard not to hear his words in my head sometimes but I try and motivate myself every day. I’m so glad it helps others too like yourself.
      Big hugs, Jamie

  4. Your post today….brought tears to my eyes. I am kinda lost right now, trying to figure my life out. Thank you for your beautiful words, they really did help and could not have come at a better time. So straighten your halo, you are my angel of the day. 🙂 Your home is so delightful, it radiates peacefulness. Thanks again.

    1. Awww, Sherri! You’re gonna make me cry. It’s amazing what happens in the world when women encourage each other, right? I went through an awful divorce last year and my ex still causes me problems but I can’t let negative people get me down. We have to reinforce the positive in ourselves because there are so many reasons we are worthy.
      Big hugs, Jamie

  5. Love your inspiring post, Jamie! So happy you’re getting your mojo back. You’re a role model to so many who have gone through hardships and have bounced back. I can see it in the quality of your posts and your voice coming through in your writing. When are we finally going to get that cup of coffee? Until then, hugs!

  6. hey girl- great post! God has a plan for each of our lives! Love your kitchen so pretty! I bought a hyacinth yesterday but it hasn’t bloomed yet!

  7. Such wise, beautiful words my friend! I love your perspective and the beauty you put into your home through your heart and your gift of design. It’s such a pleasure to know you! xo

  8. I’m so sorry you are having hard times. Your words brought tears to my eyes. Partly because not any one of us can escape the harsh realities of pain, even though not all our suffering is the same. Keep the faith that there is a way being planned, and we only have to follow that path. I’m sure you find a lot of joy in your beautiful home. People like you bring joy and beauty to so many.

  9. Dear Jamie: I have long felt things that I am supposed to read, see or know come to me. That was the case with your beautiful post I just have read. I felt like you know me and that we were sitting at my kitchen table having a chat. I believe we are on this earth to help others on their way, share joys in our lives and share our knowledge of great things and lessons we have learned simply by living. You have done that beautifully and I thank you – you have inspired me and I am sure many others to “keep on, keeping on!”
Love your kitchen and am especially fond of the lovely painting of the roses on your counter – it adds so much beauty and warmth!
Again, many thanks for a lovely post and I have signed up to follow you along!
    Love and Hugs to you,
    Sandra

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, Sandra. I believe in your sentiments exactly. I read your post immediately when it came through my email. I’m sorry I didn’t respond right away.
      Hugs, Jamie

  10. Love your style and look in your kitchen. Thank you for being so transparent with your post. Your message went straight to my heart. As I have had that happen to me. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
I looked at your photos from your trip to France they were just beautiful. They just made me want to go there even more.
    Hugs.

  11. I think I’m in love with you! Lol. I certainly love your style, it has an effortless class to it. Your words are true to me too like so many other women! I wonder if it’s something men exsperience too? Since moving in with my partner and having a family I lost my identity. No one noticed I don’t think except me. I think I’m starting to slowly find myself again. It’s lovely to hear I’m not the only one! So many struggle whilst putting on a brace face so no one notices. I want to shine n feel truely happier and lighter. I agree youth is beautiful on the outside but age is so much more skin deep. I’m only 33 and I want to shine as bright as I can for as long as I can and I think I’m slowly getting my confidence to. Happy shinning girl! Your kitchen certainly does sparkle x x

  12. Love your kitchen and everything about the decor and ideas! I can relate with your pain and feelings! I have dealt with panic, anxiety attacks and severe depression for the last couple of years! Now my husband is disabled and bed ridden on oxygen, have my 80 yr old mother living with us so it is not a good combination but enough of that Prayers are with you and God bless

  13. Your kitchen is beautiful perfection. I love the colours against the white. The world we live in is more than a little bit nasty sometimes, and as women, we are always our own worst critics. I know blogging can get me down, especially this time of year when I see all the lovely yards and were stuck in horrible winter until May. I pray that Spring will continue to give you the renewal your feeling.

  14. I LOVE your white kitchen. It inspires me to see someone else’s kitchen in white. Thank you for sharing.
