Dining Room Goals

This post will show you how I took some ideas to create my own dining room goals!

My dining room has goals, did you know that? She {yes, it’s a girl} has gone through a few transformations but it’s just never felt quite right.

I’ve talked about it many times…like here, here and here.

I’ve tried many times with the decor to get it right all to no avail.

So I’ve compiled a little list of goals for my dining room. That’s what she wanted 😉

  1. Paint dining room walls.
  2. Sand down table top and paint legs with AS Chalk Paint.
  3. Sand down white cabinet to a chippy white.
  4. Sand chair legs.
  5. Paint grain sack stripes on bench.
  6. Replace white cabinet.
  7. Redecorate and reposition furniture.

1. Okay, starting with the walls! Here are five paint samples I’ve chosen so far. I haven’t decided on which one yet or if I need to get more samples.

I’m looking for more of a “greige” color as the rest of my house is painted a creme color:  Country Beige by Behr.

2. This dining room table we had made for us. I wanted a rustic look so I told them just a natural wax on the top would be fine. Boy, was that wrong! You can see where the sun has bleached the stain from where I had the runner down the middle of it.

And where you can see grease marks that I cannot get off. Gross.

I’d like the top of the table dark with grey legs. Kinda like Courtney’s table from French Country Cottage. My heart melts every time I see this room!

3. Then I’d like to sand this white cabinet down to a chippy white.

My son “keyed” it when he was a toddler! And I thought that only happened to cars by crazy girlfriends!!

 4. I love my ticking stripe chairs but the legs are just too dark.

I’d love to sand down these chair legs like Jen over at City Farmhouse! What a fantastic idea, Jen!!

5. Perhaps I’ll paint a little grain sack stripe on this bench of mine. Too many stripes though?

6. I love this cabinet! It was a free curbside find from years ago. But I’d really like something different for this space and I’d love to move this upstairs for some more storage. So I’ll decide if I want to move it for sure after steps 1-5 are done.

So I’m working on one of these steps already and I’ll be ready to show you the finished results coming up soon!

What do you think of my dining room’s goals??

  1. I LOVE your ticking striped chairs!! They are gorgeous, but I agree about the legs. I think a grainsack stripe on the bench will be beautiful. No matter what you do, it will be perfect, because its you!

  2. ooohh, I love dreaming of ways to change a room. 🙂 I think a grain sack stripe would look awesome along the bench. And I can’t wait to see what you do with the table. It’ll be gorgeous!!
