Painted Cabinet

It’s amazing what a little paint can do especially for an old cabinet!

This cabinet in my dining room was found in an alley way near my old house. I found it on my daily walk with pushing my son in the stroller. As soon as my hubby came home I told him he needed to go back to that block and grab it! It was URGENT LOL. Luckily my cousin was coming over that afternoon so he could help him. They said it was the heaviest piece of furniture they’ve ever lifted. Well, I’m sure that was a bit of an exaggeration but it is an amazingly heavy wooden piece. It is solid wood in and out. It has many drawers, even little drawers hidden behind the door. I know it looks more Art Deco than anything but I thought with a fresh coat of paint I could make it look just vintage 😉

Here’s the view inside the cabinet. Cute little drawers for napkins and tablecloths. I cant believe all the storage it has!

I added some beautiful rubbed bronze handles and painted over the silver poles. I used a white paint (Swiss Coffee from Behr) and then a rubbed a darker glaze on top and wiped it off to give it a vintage look.

I have had this vintage scale for years. It’s the perfect place for it!

I love how the cabinet turned out! Better with age 😉

  1. Came across your trunk project on Osie Moats and then I saw this and my heart stopped. What a great furniture find and I love how you’ve redone it. That’s the kind of cabinet I’ve been looking for for a potential basement bar. Love your blog as I am a big fan of rustic decor!
