Kitchen Obsessed
Here are some kitchens I am obsessed with!
I am kitchen obsessed! I loooove kitchens. When we were house hunting for our current home, I would only look at the kitchens of the real estate photos. If the kitchen sucked, I’d move on from that house.
Now, if the kitchen had potential that would be different but if the kitchen was brand new and I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t have the heart {or possibly funds} to completely transform it.
Funny thing is when we bought this house, I thought the kitchen sucked. And, well, it kinda does.
Funny how life works out.

But let me explain….
This house has been great for us. There are rooms and areas of the house that we thought were weirdly planned but turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
We’ve made over almost every square inch of our house. We even did a makeover in our kitchen adding a new backsplash, light fixtures, hardware and painted the cupboards.
And we added glass inserts to the upper cabinets.
I transformed a closet down the hall into a pantry and completely organized it.
Bet I must tell you, this kitchen is not very smartly designed. I have to walk down the hall to grab spices and food. It’s a U-shape kitchen {yuck, in my opinion} and not enough counter space.
I LOVE to bake. This photo {below} of my kitchen has a lot of stuff removed from the countertops for the photo so in reality there is barely any room to work on. The right side of the countertop holds a microwave, tea kettle, espresso maker, coffee bean grinder, salt & pepper mill. And that’s just one side! See, not much room to bake and roll out pastry.
Anyhoo, I really don’t mean to complain. But sometimes I like to dream about a new kitchen and I like to bring you along with me.
I dream about a smart kitchen. One that is pretty on the inside as well as the outside.
Like this one…*sigh*
and this one…
Wall-to-wall subway tile and a massive black shelving unit? Be still my heart.
See? Lots of storage and plenty of room for prep work and rolling pastry on.
I have two Pinterest boards that are all about kitchens.
I’m surprised I don’t have more.
You can check them out at the bottom of this post.
And just so you know, there’s a tour going on right now about making your home cozy and I’ll be posting my ‘cozy home tour’ this Friday so be sure stop back!
And…I’ll also be taking part in this amazing “What’s Your Style Series” on January 29th so mark your calendars!
Are you kitchen obsessed?
I’m kitchen obsessed because mine is horrible. I will eventually be gutting everything to the bare walls to frame it back up, add insulation, windows, drywall, beadboard, beautiful cabinets and everything else. We already bought the new appliances (so they all match!), and now comes the rest some day.
Sounds wonderful, Megan! I can’t wait to see the results 😉
Hugs,
Jamie
First of all, I think your kitchen is beautiful! I am also kitchen obsessed as we are now in the process of planning an update for ours. So many choices! I will be checking out your Pinterest board!

Thanks so much, Shelley!

Jamie
I’m with you all the way. I am always dreaming/planning where our kitchen is concerned. I’ve done what I can but there is so much more I’d like to do. We have a converted hall closet too, haven’t posted about it yet – we are missing the trim – but it helps with our storage needs, too bad it’s outside of our kitchen!
Glad I’m not the only one, Keya!
Hugs,
Jamie
I am with you and I actually blogged about my own kitchen today! Mine is worse, ugly, and just gross. You can read my blog at dragonfliedandthistles.blogspot.com
Maybe we can dream a little dream of a great kitchen all together! Victoria
haha, yes, let’s dream together! I’m off to check out your blog 😉
Hugs,
Jamie
I love the inspiration Jamie- especially that last kitchen. We are planning to ‘do’ ours soon so I am in full inspiration and planning mode now- thanks for sharing these beautiful spaces – I will have to check out both boards!
Oh how exciting, Krista! I can’t wait to see what you do with yours 😉
Hugs,
Jamie
Such big gorgeous kitchens!!! A girl can dream!
I have to say I think your kitchen is beautiful, too! 🙂
Thanks Brandi!
Hugs,
Jamie
Thanks for the fantasy kitchen tour. I am remodelling mine within the next few months and I too am obsessing.
Ooh can’t wait to see your kitchen after it’s done, Heather!
Hugs,
Jamie
I also love kitchens! Funny thing is that I don’t cook. I love square kitchens. Right now, I’m re-doing my 80s light oak kitchen. I can’t wait until it’s done, but it’s been a slow process. I think yours is great.
Thanks Misty! I can’t wait to see your kitchen when it’s done 😉
Hugs,
Jamie
Jamie I love your kitchen…compared to my 70’s sudo u-shaped with terrible particle board cabinets and formica countertops, yours is MY dream kitchen! I did at least paint my cabinets and replaced the hardware so they don’t look as bad as they did…whoa. Love the Pinterest board and I’m following you now for inspiration!
Thanks so much for your sweet comment, Steph! Yes, I realize I should NOT be complaining but a girl still loves to dream. I guess it’s the grass is always greener syndrome. Maybe I should stop looking at those Pinterest kitchen photos 😉
Hugs,
Jamie
Pine rest makes my husband moan. And not with glee. 😉
Darn auto correct…Pinterest!
haha, yes, my whole blog kinda makes my hubby groan too 😉 But ya gotta do what you love, right?
Hello, I am currently in a kitchen remodel and I want to make sure everything is done correctly. Any suggestions on “must haves”, that I may not have thought of?
Just wondering.
