Powder Room Before and After
I took a typical 80’s bathroom and turned it into the powder room of my dreams!
I love old stuff, including bathrooms!
To bring this room out of the 80s and into the 30s, I went with black and white tiles and a claw foot porcelain tub.
I’m in love!
Wait until you see the before photos.
I call it a powder room because it’s our main floor bathroom off the kitchen even though I realize a powder room doesn’t contain a bathtub and a clawfoot tub for that matter!
But I still think it’s a lovely name for this bathroom.
This is the before picture of how it looked like when we bought our house.
Yikes! It was a complete 80’s disaster!
Here it is after:
Typical 80s tub shower combo. Nothing to like here and nothing to salvage.
My beautiful vintage clawfoot tub.
It even had faux wood linoleum! Wow. I have no words.
So we had the bathroom gutted right down to the studs.
And drywalled the walls.
We had crown moulding added, beadboard with trim, and black and white tiles.
So obviously I’m not a modern decor girl. I wanted it to seem like this was the way it was when the house was built so I carefully chose decor that would mirror the style of the house.
Here is a close-up of some framed artwork. I bought them on Etsy years ago but I can’t find the artist anymore. They compliment the vintage feel of the powder room.
I love vintage and nothing is more vintage than robin egg’s blue. It’s called Limelight from Behr and it’s the perfect color to compliment the powder room!
So there you have the little tour of my before and after pictures of my powder room.
Check out these bathroom updates.
I have always loved claw foot tubs – my parents have one – it just adds a touch of class to any bathroom!
Very pretty and very vintage.

The little cluster of dried lavender catches my eye! I loved it. Y’all have really done such incredible work transforming your house into a home that suits your style. Seriously, you might need your own show on HGTV. Let me know if I should start making phone calls.

I just found your blog, so glad I did! This is QUITE the transformation. Thanks for giving us the paint color too, I LOVE robins egg blue! It looks exactly like the color in my bedroom, you can see in the photo of this storage bench I made. Check it out if you have a minute, you could make it in a couple hours with your skills!

Jamie, your bathroom looks amazing! I love that you switched out the tub/shower for the tub. It looks like a totally new space. I think I would go in for a bath and never want to leave! The light blue Behr Limelight was the perfect color choice for a vintage bathroom. I’d love to feature this on my paint color blog, Involving Color. Let me know if you’re interested!
Thanks so much, Jena! Of course I’d love to be featured! You’re so sweet 😉

Your bathroom is gorgeous! Did you use standard beadboard in there? I am planning to add beadboard in my bath reno.
Thanks!
Thanks so much, June! Yes, just standard breadboard painted white. It makes such a big difference. Good luck!
Hugs,
Jamie
SO gorgeous! featuring it tomorrow during our link party!
Wow, thank you so much!!
Hugs,
Jamie
Beautiful!!! Love, love, love that tub!
The wall color is very pretty…. It looks like a light blue in the photos is that accurate in person?
Thanks Lisa! It’s like a robin egg’s blue. The most accurate photo I would say is the one with the 3 framed art pieces on the wall. It gets a lot of light in there so it’s hard to take a good photo.
Hugs,
Jamie
gorgeous!!! you did a fabulous job!
Thanks so much, Jessica 😉
Jamie

Beautiful vintage bath! I saw your other bath done in the same colors and I LOVE the vanity and paint treatment. You mentioned that you did it quite inexpensively but I couldn’t find anywhere you explained how. Would you mind sharing about the vanity in both bathrooms? I need a 60″ vanity with one sink for my girls’ bath and they are so expensive that it’s delaying a “someday” reno. Love your style!
Yes, Amy! Thank you for reminding me. I have a binder full of ideas for this little blog of mine, just trying to find time for it all. I ordered a granite countertop/sink combination from Home Depot online. You can also order a matching cabinet to fit the countertop but I didn’t do that. I wanted an original cabinet so I found a local guy in town to make me a cabinet made of real wood for a great deal. You could also find a dresser or cabinet and have that granite top added to it. I hope those ideas helped! You can email me too if you need more help.
Hugs,
Jamie
