"Stainless Finland"
I have used an old pair of European made scissors that my grandmother originally had which were made around 30 years ago, and they still work today. They were made by craftsmen in an old world shop and therefore don't have a brand name. But they have many good features that many modern brand name scissors don't have like - rubberized metal handles, riveted blade assembly, and thin long blades(like a knife). In the photo that is attached to this review the scissors described above are in the middle. They have a design frequently associated with "industrial" or "sewing" scissors.I was looking for similar scissors of similar long lasting quality for all purposes(not only sewing) since as a guy I cut very little fabric. I ordered these Fiskars 8 inch Heritage scissors and the Gingher 7 inch Knife Edge Dressmaker scissors(which as far as I can tell are made by a company affiliated to the Fiskars brand and are labeled as such on Amazon).I already own cheaper Fiskars scissors(likely outsourced to a cheap production facility somewhere in Asia), they are nothing special and have thick dull blade tips, I want to move them to long term storage. These Fiskars Heritage scissors are labeled "stainless Finland" so they were not outsourced(I don't understand why Fiskars outsources to Asia and not to nearby eastern Europe) to be manufactured as cheap as possible with disposable quality(like many things today). They seem like good scissors but I did not like the plastic handles, they don't feel as ergonomic as my grandmother's 30 year old scissors. So I returned them without opening the package. The blades appeared to be sharper and thinner than the Fiskars' scissors I already have. Most will likely be satisfied with these scissors, I just have very high standards for scissors.
