Twig Heart Art

I put together this cute little DIY twig heart art and I will show you how you to can create yourself!

Shauna, from Satori Living, always gets my butt in gear. What do you possibly mean, you ask?

She creates these amazing DIY challenges, invites her fellow bloggers and puts me to work.

I love it.

For the next three weeks, we are put to the challenge of creating a project with one item and a different item each week.

This week it’s twigs. Make a project with twigs. Sure, sounds easy enough.

I almost called it quits but I did it!

So I gathered some twigs and I knew I wanted to make a heart.

I just wanted a large heart made of twigs to put on the wall of my daughter’s room in our not-so-rustic cabin.

Seemed simple enough. It was actually quite hard!

First I found the twigs that already had a curve in them.

Using floral wire, I twisted the two ends of the heart together.

Taking floral wire and attaching the pieces together.

The bottom of the heart was harder.

I needed to add an extra little twig to the bottom twisting the floral wire all around it.

I reinforce the sides overlapping twigs and twisting floral wire.

Half the heart put together on the floor.

Then snipped off the ends that stuck out.

This is the part that I couldn’t figure out and nearly called it quits.

I could not get the top to curve in properly no matter how many times I tried. I nearly emailed Shauna.

Um Shauna? Yeah, this twig challenge sucks. Sorry, I can’t do it.

But then I figured out…

I tied wire from the top to the bottom. Voila!

I’m going to use the three different projects for the next three weeks to decorate my daughter’s room in the not-so-rustic cabin in the woods.

Here are some hints for the upcoming projects…
