Hello! I've been obsessing over the Limestone surround above (1st photo) and wanted to see if you could share the specs? I'm trying to have a stone fabricator replicate this for my old home. As much as you can provide, the better!

Thank you so much in advance!

In reply to <a href="https://somuchbetterwithage.com/fabulous-limestone-fireplaces/#comment-229284">Cheryl in MI</a>.

Hi Cheryl,
It's been four years since we renovated this house and I'm still in love with my fireplace! As much as I love a wood burning fireplace, this gas fireplace is perfect for our house. It heats the whole main floor in the winter and it's so easy to put on (with just a flick of a switch on the wall). I wouldn't use it nearly as much if it was a real wood burning fireplace. Also, I do think there would be smoke and/or soot stains with wood burning fireplace. I know you can get gas fireplaces without the glass so that it looks more 'real', you still might need a screen in front though. This fireplace has a chimney, I believe at some point it was a wood burning fireplace but when when we bought it, it had already turned to a gas fireplace.
Hope this helps!
Hugs, Jamie

Hi Jamie - I am in the planning stages for a major addition to our Northern Michigan home, and a family room with a limestone (cast stone) fireplace is the centerpiece of my dreams. I love the looks of yours, and I would be so interested in how you feel about your decisions now that you have been living with your decisions for a few years. I am thinking about a true woodturning FP. Is this going to be practical, or are smoke stains a big problem? It will be on an outside wall, so I could design it with a deep firebox. Would that require a tall chimney? This will be a single story addition. Any thoughts you could share now that you have lived with your design would be greatly appreciated.
