I am not a huge fan of plastic either but for some foods, it seems to keep them fresher, longer. I go to various thrift stores and search for glass containers that work just as well but this takes time. I think if you’re in a time crunch, ordering the plastic containers is really helpful for a busy family. If you’ve got plenty of time then swap meets, thrift stores, garage sales, etc. would give you the means to find an eclectic, more personalized look and feel.

Glass containers would be so much better for the planet, and personally I think nicer to use.
