No style, no problem! It’s true, you don’t need No style, no problem!

It’s true, you don’t need to know your design style.

I’m currently creating a digital product behind the scenes right now and it has got me thinking a lot about where you should start when you’re decorating a room and I thought back to how I came up with my design style.

I didn’t do any quiz or questionnaire, I just honed in on my likes, things that I gravitated to and developed my design eye.

I truly believe that if you listen to the little hints in the world around you, you’ll know what you like.

I have more on this subject coming up so follow along!

My 50th birthday was super special!! First I went My 50th birthday was super special!! First I went to Whistler with my daughter, my best friend @rosiequinnstyle & her husband (who is also my friend) & my sister @ecrossle. It was an amazing time with dinners, spa sessions and bike rides.

Then we were off to New York as my daughter has always wanted to go and then to Montreal as I’ve always wanted to go!

So many people have told me that Montreal is like a little European city and they were not wrong. But I will say it’s like that but cleaner! The city was so clean and so beautiful.

Definitely going back one day. I can’t believe being 🇨🇦myself that’s it’s taken me 50 years to get here but I’ll make sure I come back again soon.

Enjoy more design inspiration as I find travel so design inspiring. 💚✈️💚

I’m always so inspired by so many things, even the most mundane things like signs and bricks. I had the most amazing time in New York, my 7th time!

And even though my daughter thought I was walking too slow for her, it was only to catch glimpses of so many incredible corners everywhere I looked. New York is different every time I go! And my daughter was in heaven!

(We also listened to Frank Sinatra on repeat while getting ready each day in our hotel room - my heart is content 🤗) 💚
Wait, how did this happen?? It felt just like th Wait, how did this happen??

It felt just like that. I blinked and I’m 50. But that’s okay. I’m excited what the future holds!!

Hope you follow along!
Thanks for the help @rosiequinnstyle @ecrossle @mrrosiedesign
Happy birthday to me I guess Jokes aside I do no Happy birthday to me I guess

Jokes aside I do not feel 50 if I take away the back and neck pain, short term memory loss and rapidly declining eyesight. Yes apart from those those I feel super young 😂

I’m happy to be alive and will own being a half-century antique! I’m priceless.
What is wrong with me?? I have so many reuseable What is wrong with me??

I have so many reuseable bags and for some reason I don’t want to let go of any.

I tell women what to keep in their homes and yet reusable grocery has me stumped LOL.

Also, I’m always decluttering.

Anyone else relate? No? Just me? LOL

If you replace this one thing with any style of fu If you replace this one thing with any style of furniture, you can always solve the problem for any room!

And it’s always the first thing I notice when I enter a room - scale. If the size of everything doesn’t fit in comparison with each other and with the walkways to move around it, nothing will work.

Just say no to matchy matchy This is the best way Just say no to matchy matchy

This is the best way to mix old with new. Even if all the furniture is new, please don’t match it all. It looks like a showroom and no one wants their house to look like that.

Are the ‘befores’ really bad? The small rug, yes! Are the ‘befores’ really bad?

The small rug, yes!
Matching the side table to the bed? Yep
But adding ‘matching’ black table lamp and wall sconces because it matches the bed? Using a different metal makes it better and more DESIGNER!

➡️Comment BEDROOM to finally finish decorating your bedroom.

The table lamp and wall sconces also do not match but they are all brass.

A floral rug and striped duvet cover? Because they are all in the same muted tones, they work.

And the piece de resistance...instead of boring neutral art...I put black from the metal in the bed and matched it to the beautiful art piece.

And also the upholstered and metal bench at the end of the bed.

The soft green is soothing and is picked up from the rug.

What do you think?

RIP Rob Base - loved your music growing up 🥺🥺🥺
