I’m back with Part 2 of Things I Don’t Like About I’m back with Part 2 of Things I Don’t Like About My Kitchen

I moved into this house and renovated it 10 years ago and so I thought it was time to go over the things I don’t like about it and things I still love about it.

Nothing major but it’s good to know if you are looking to renovate your own kitchen and to decide what will truly bother you or if it’s worth the splurge.

Coming up soon will be all the things I love about my kitchen!

Don’t you hate when candlesticks don’t stay put? Don’t you hate when candlesticks don’t stay put?

Just melt the base of the candlestick a little bit and it will stay and not lean.

So simple, right?

I just published a post on the best timeless paint I just published a post on the best timeless paint colors for 2026 and for years to come, in my opinion.

These are paint colors I’ve seen time and again with clients and the paint guide I did last year. There are light, medium and dark shades of colors so a lot of variety.

It’s a huge blog post with lost of different paint colors given for each room show. These are truly colors I love so much.

I love my apron front (farmhouse) sink. It’s been I love my apron front (farmhouse) sink. It’s been 10 years now since it’s been in my house. And it’s the second one I’ve had as I had one in my previous house.

I’ve created a blog post with the good and bad about it.

First, the bad:👎🏻

1. They can scratch if you don’t use a sink rack (I don’t like them) and for 10 years, it’s not bad, you can’t really notice them.
2. They can get marks or stains.

Now the good:👍🏻

1. Stains are easily removable!
2. They don’t chip - especially with mine which is a enameled cast iron Kohler sink.
3. With it being undermount, you don’t need a bead of silicone along the edge, it can be hidden underneath.
4. They are HUGE! Enough to put babies, pets, and roasting pans in.
5. They are gorgeous. Enough said. I will keep buying them. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Comment SINK and I’ll send you the link to my blog post and link to the sink.

Do you love an apron-front/farmhouse sink?

My 7 habits I do daily. I’m such a creature of hab My 7 habits I do daily. I’m such a creature of habit it was hard to put it down to 7 😂

No.1 - Make my bed

As soon as I wake up, I make my bed. I make it before I even leave my room in the morning. I feel like it sets a momentum for the day.

No. 2 - Exercise

After I make my bed, I put my workout clothes and go down to my basement to work out. I work out every day. Now when I say that I don't mean I do a HIIT session every day, but I always get on the treadmill every morning then lift weights. I see a personal trainer once a week as well. When it's nice out, I like to take hikes near my house and bike.

No. 3 - Smoothie, Vitamins, Tea, Emails, Texts, Etc

After my workout, I unload the dishwasher, I make my smoothie and take my vitamins. I’ll make myself a tea then I go through all my emails and I always go through my junk/spam folder. I hate red notification dots.

No. 4 - Always change into clothes-not loungewear

I always find I’m more productive when I wear my regular ‘uniform’ - jeans and a top.

No. 5 - Clean the kitchen and quick tidy up

There’s nothing better than setting up the next day for success so I make sure the kitchen is clean and that I’ve tidied up. I check to see what is happening tomorrow and double check with the kids if they have everything they need. .

No. 6 - Nightly getting ready routine.

I hop in the shower and I do my skincare routine and use a retinol every second or third day.

No. 7 - Read a book or meditate.

I love reading at night. I’ve done it for as long as I can remember. It makes me sleepy so it’s a good routine. I’m now getting into the routine of listening to a meditation app a few times a week which I love too.

Do you do something similar? Or is it just me? Let me know!

I love this armoire. A friend gave it to me, she d I love this armoire. A friend gave it to me, she didn’t want it - it was in pieces in her basement when she moved into her new house. It comes together like a jigsaw puzzle in about 10 different pieces, no screws or nails, so it’s easy to move. It actually did come with a brass rail for hanging clothes but it was misplaced during the move but found again but I haven’t changed it from the current white rod in place.

It was a lot of work to sand it down from it’s original yellow stain but totally worth it.

Antiques make a room so unique and I can’t imagine ever parting with it. And that it doubles my closet storage is a huge plus!

Is painted furniture still a thing? Probably not b Is painted furniture still a thing? Probably not but I’m happy to report that I painted my dresser 10 years ago and the small cabinet for my china and about 8 years ago and they are still holding up amazingly!!

I used @fusionmineralpaint and clear wax over them and there is only one small knick in the dresser. Incredible, right!

The small cabinet I use for my ironstone was in bad shape as well and the paint has made it go well with my space.

Not bad for free!

Anyhoo, I doubt people are painting furniture as much or at all but it’s definitely the way to go if you have a piece of furniture that needs a lot of repair. Paint is the only way to cover it all up!.

➡️ Comment HELP and I will DM you the link to a blog post tutorial on how to salvage damaged furniture.

Organizing sentimental items, like kids’ clothing, Organizing sentimental items, like kids’ clothing, books etc, are hard b/c it reminds us of that time of life when they were babies.

We can honor the past while keeping just a few items that are meaningful.
I have 1 bin for 2 kids:
- first outfit & first shoes
- first blanket
- photo shoot outfit
- 2 favorite books, 1 favorite toy

I keep 1 bin for each kid for school stuff and other sentimental papers from activities.

I have a School Memories binder for each kid that shares a few details of each year along with their class photo (free printables on my blog).

I organize kids’ artwork in these portfolios and label each school year.

Along with Christmas decor, I also have labelled bins for other seasons - although I have decluttered a lot over the years.

I used to have 2 bins of Easter decor & 2 bins for Halloween. I re-evaulated what I wanted to keep and decluttered a lot. Re-evaulating after the season is key to making sure you don’t end up with too much stuff.

Do you have lots of hobby supplies?
Decor items?
Having a space for them to be stored when not in use and organized into smaller containers helps set you up for success!

Why do I go to all this trouble?
Organizing takes times! But it helps save me time in the future.
And the biggest one for me...
it helps me have good mental health. And there’s nothing more important than that!
Future you will thank you!

The planner was easy to use and you can take some time to figure out the placement of each cabinet.

The cabinets from IKEA cost around $6000 and I live in Vancouver, BC Canada, to give you an idea of how much it might cost in your area (Vancouver is a pricey place to live!)
