DIY Wood Bead Christmas Garland
Create a wood bead Christmas garland with this easy DIY tutorial! The festive garland looks so beautiful on any tree or mantel.

This year I’m going Scandinavian in the dining room and keeping my decor minimal. It’s been really refreshing as I seem to go all out each year and by the time Christmas comes, I’m exhausted. I really want to savour and enjoy the holidays this year and that includes sharing easy Christmas decor and fun styling tips. This DIY wood bead garland is perfect for simple but stunning Christmas decor.
Today I’m joining in a Christmas ornament blog tour for Seasonal Simplicity hosted by my friend Krista of The Happy Housie. Be sure to visit all the beautiful ornaments at the bottom of my post!

supplies
- beads – I bought 400 x 16 mm natural wood beads and 400 x 20 mm natural wood beads to make four garlands for my 7.5 foot tree
- hemp twine – the stiffness of the hemp twine made it easy to thread each bead through
How to Make wood bead garland
First, I took my twine and measured how much I would need for each holiday garland so I had the perfect amount of beads for my flocked Christmas tree. Instead of one long garland I made 4 garlands.

Knot towards the end about four times. I alternated with 16 mm and 20 mm beads. Because the hemp twine is stiff, it goes through each bead easily.
At first I forgot I had two separate sizes and started making the holiday garland with one size but the two sizes really look nice together. It’s really subtle but gives a nice dimension to the wooden beads.

When you have reached a few inches near the end of your twine, knot the end about four times and that’s it!
It’s really the easiest ornament you’ll ever make, right?!

It looks so good with the minimal decor I’ve put on my flocked tree this year.

Love your whole minimalist christmas theme! You are totally right… we often put so much time and energy into all the details it can be hard to find the balance to actually sit back and enjoy it all! This just proves you can still make the simpler way just as beautiful!
Thanks Sarah! Hard to find a balance sometimes, right?! Let’s see if I can do it this year!

Hi Jamie:
Love the bead garlands. Can’t wait to try. BTW: where did the advent calendar that sits on your shelves come from?
Thank you! I got the advent calendar from my local Home Sense store (in Canada) but I put together more sources in this Christmas decor shop here: https://somuchbetterwithage.com/christmas-decor-shop/

Love the bead garland. I’ve forgotten how to access your free printables. I am a subscriber and would like to revisit the banners you made last Christmas.
Thanks so much, Teddee! It should be in my latest newsletter but I’m email it to you!

I’m obsessed with those candle lights and those glass ornaments 😱 where are those from
Hi Emma,
The candle lights are from Amazon and are linked towards the end of my post. The glass ornaments I believe I got years ago from Restoration Hardware 🙁
