Park and Oak created a bookshelf that goes right over a doorway to maximize space. Such a great idea if you don’t have a full wall to display or store items.

Marie Flanigan Interiors did a similar thing with a bookshelf going over the door while still using the entire wall for this media centre. I love the layered look of two different materials and colors.
