How a playroom can transform into a cool man cave at night!

Playroom to man cave - So Much Better With Age

A few days ago I showed you the amazing transformation of our scary unfinished
basement to our beautiful new playroom.
But did you know this playroom turns into a man cave at night? Now I know the real
reason why my hubby wanted to finish the basement….hmmmm..

This open space goes from this….

…to this!

These chairs and footstools from Ikea easily move out of the way so the kids can run and
play during the day and then we just move then inwards to watch a 3D movie at night!

It’s a great use of space. The low ceiling area for the kids and the open area for
the adults.

The lights also dim for a true movie feel 😉

The TV cabinet stays locked during the day. We want it to be a “playroom” and not a TV
room during the day.

My hubby wanted a a great speaker system so there are speakers inset in the ceiling and
walls and of course in the built-in cabinet. Half of the cabinet doors are covered in a
mesh fabric so the sound quality is altered!  Such a great design detail!

And what man cave would be complete if it didn’t have a beer fridge! This is tucked
away in the hot water tank closet so the kids can’t see 😉  We’ll need to put a lock on that
closet door when they get older!!

See? It’s possible for kids and parents to co-exist!

I have another post coming up with some more cute details about this space, stay tuned!

I love this room! What an amazing transformation! Where did you get your clock? I love the size and color. So smart to have a cupboard to lock your TV in. My husband has a heart attack anytime my boys get playing too close to his big screen! Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great day!

Thanks so much, Brooke! The clock is from Ikea. I thought my hubby was crazy for putting a lock on the TV but now it’s a relief as I can send my older son downstairs with his friends and not worry about them.

Thanks Nancy. Yes, we had a lot of renovations going on here! We don’t really have many basements here either as there is a lot of rock {we’re on a mountain} but we were lucky to have a high crawlspace.
      Have a great weekend!

Just completed our ‘man cave’ recently too. Our kids are all grown and we are both retired. The grand-kids love it when they come over as there is a special space for their toys and the oldest is allowed on pappy’s computer. My ‘craft’ room is off limits, allowed only when I am with them…my grand-daughter loves that room but I have to watch her or she’ll decorate room with my sparkle!!!and of course, when they sleep over they love to watch a movie on the big screen!!!

Our basement is the perfect place to store seasona Our basement is the perfect place to store seasonal / holiday / decor items. I’ve had plenty of it over the years (too much!) as I’ve been blogging for 10 years! I went through all my Christmas decor this year before I packed it all away and got rid of so much!
