Lavender Outdoor Summer Table Setting
A lavender outdoor summer table setting is so French and so easy to set up.
I’ve been wanting to set up an outdoor table setting with lavender everywhere and when I came across a lavender shop on a recent trip, I followed through on that inspiration and picked up an assortment of lavender infused goodies. I can’t wait to show you!
I’m participating in a Styled + Set Summer Entertaining tour hosted by Lory of Designthusiasm. If you are coming over here from Celebrating Everyday Life, welcome! Be sure to see all the bloggers’ tours at the end of this post!
Recently we gave our back patio a makeover by painting the concrete slab like an outdoor rug and bought a new teak outdoor table and chairs.
Here is what I started with. A table with a toolbox centrepiece full of lavender plants and the bucket of lavender I bought last weekend. It’s already looking pretty but I took it one step further!

A couple of week ago I went rummaging through my birth mother’s old barn and picked up some goodies like this wooden drill bit holders (I also recreated these drill bit holders as project in my book, French Vintage Decor).
It’s the perfect place to put in sprigs of dried lavender.
I wrapped pieces of parchment around cut chunks of baguettes and tied them with twine and finished off with a spring of lavender.
The presentation is simple yet pretty enough for your guests to feel special.
I found these striped linen napkins in France last year.
I found four of these adorable mini cutting boards while antique shopping last weekend so at each place setting I added some camembert cheese and lavender butter.
Lavender is similar in a way to thyme so you can use it in similar ways.
I also purchased some culinary lavender and used it in ice cubes and in the butter. A little goes a long way so just a bit of lavender in the butter adds a really fragrant amount.
Culinary lavender isn’t much different from the dried lavender they sell except that it’s harvested much sooner so it has less oils. I asked if you can eat dried lavender even if it doesn’t say ‘culinary’ lavender and they said yes! I had no idea it was the same lavender you can eat.
While I was there I also picked up some lavender shortbread which is delicious. I also like their lavender tea.
I’ve had this outdoor tea cart for a couple of years now and I’ve used it indoors and now out on the patio.
I added lavender to a mini crock as well as milk jars. The milk jars are sitting in a wooden tool box, another find at my birth mother’s barn. I actually found four wooden toolboxes that day!
Fresh iced tea is ready to serve.
The vintage seltzer bottle was a find I brought back from France last year along with the French market basket.
I planted lavender everywhere this year too.
Did you know dried lavender also repels insects? What a better use for it than at an outdoor summer table setting!
Adding lavender to the yogurt jars instead of epsom salts and adding a taper candle adds more lavender ambience to this table setting.
I also added some short pillar candle to some enamelware mugs for more outdoor candle lighting.

I made lavender ice cubes but they melted during this photo shoot. It was such a hot day.
A few bits of lavender added to ice cubes in a white wine spritzer is so yummy!
One last tip, did you know that you can also used the dried stems?
Add them to your fireplace or outdoor fire pit and you’ll have the most fragrant smell ever!
I love a casual yet pretty table setting and using lavender is an easy way to accomplish this.
I know I went overboard on the lavender but even adding one or two of these lavender elements will make for a beautiful lavender outdoor table setting.

I love the lavender table setting, it’s beautiful! And I would really love to try some lavender butter, it sounds delicious! The shop she got some of her products from is on a lavender farm on San Juan Island. I have been there and had no idea that there was a lavender farm there! If I ever make it back, I’m visiting for sure, it looks amazing!
Thanks Michelle! The shop is so beautiful!
