Now that our backyard renovation is complete, we can finally host! Although, you might be thinking why would I do that in fall here in rainy North Vancouver.
Well, it’s nice to have an outdoor entertaining or reading area during COVID times and with our camping firebowl it really makes things warm out here.
Let me show you around my cozy and beautiful fall back porch!
We have an outdoor table decorated for the fall season. Since it’s covered out here, I can now put tablecloths and pumpkins out on the back porch to my heart’s content.

I used my cute DIY pumpkins I painted from previous years and also my beautiful velvet pumpkins.

Check out my guide on how to paint your own muted heirloom pumpkins here.

This outdoor seating area is so nice in spring, summer and fall (although we haven’t experienced spring yet!). There’s so much room to visit with friends and family over a hot chocolate.
Adding some pumpkins, candles and fall mums make it feel so cozy and fall. One of my favorite times of the year.
A few vintage touches out here don’t hurt either. It’s nice to add some warmth to all this grey.

We moved our coffee table and swing our fire bowl around in front of the outdoor sofa to get warm and/or to roast marshmallows by the open fire.
With the aluminum covered area, the area stays warm with just this one fire bowl.

I even added a few fall pumpkins to my potting bench to get into the festive mood!

At night, the backyard porch feels so nice and cozy with the string of twinkling lights and candles.

I replaced the side table with a stump that I painted. I love how it looks here, warm, cozy and ready for autumn.

I hope you enjoyed this post on how to create an outdoor fall entertaining area.

Are the candle holders yogurt jars? I can not get the labels and glue off easily!
I use citric acid or lemon essential oil to get glue off items. I keep a citric acid spray bottle by my kitchen sink for those kinds of jobs.
Hi Frances,
Yes they are yogurt jars from France!
Beautiful I love all of it 😊
Thank you, Gail! We’re really enjoying it!

Hi Jamie, I’m considering adding an outdoor covered area to my house but worry about the house feeling darker where the windows are under it. How have you found it? Did you add the patio cover yourself or was it there when you bought?
Hi Julia,
We were worried about the same thing! The whole pergola is black except the underside it’s white to keep it bright. Also the glass type panels are great to allow light to come in. It’s also installed high enough above the windows that it doesn’t cast shadows. We haven’t seen any difference inside which is great!
