Fall 2024 Interior Design and Decor Trends
It’s fall and it’s time to share some interior design and decor trends with you!
Fall Trends
- Organic and Natural Decorating
Whether that means organic lines or organic, natural foliage, bringing the outdoors in is still a big trend. Decorating for the seasons doesn’t have to be pumpkins and fall signs (please just no) but simple touches to show summer is over and it’s time to get cozy.
It can mean a bowl of pinecones, candles, foliage you cut from your backyard or beautiful faux branches such as these.
Gorgeous fall inspo by @aceriinteriors. Candles, foliage and throw pillows make for a cozy scene.
@myhousefromscratch sets the table with style with candles and beautiful foliage.
2. Warm, Dark Woods
Light colors are still all the rage in flooring and furniture but dark wood tones are making a come back. There is so much warmth in the dark woods, I’m happy as my floors are dark.
DeVol Kitchens is the master at mixing old with new. The rich wood island and floors are gorgeous.
This gorgeous mudroom transformation by Nadine Stay is incredible. The wood tones play off the brick floor beautifully.
3. Color Drenching
Color drenching is an interior design technique that involves painting an entire room or space the same color, including walls, ceilings, trim and doors. If a glossy sheen is used, it makes the space even more dramatic.
Chris Loves Julia does an amazing job creating a cozy and inviting primary bedroom space.
Willaby Way nails it with her wall bed and open shelving walls and window trim all in the same rich green tone.
4. Curved Furniture and Arches
Curves are still here! You can see them in curved silhouettes, rounded edges and sloping lines in furniture and lots of home decor pieces. Window and door arches are still on trend too and add a grandness and uniqueness to any space.
Love the curved furniture in this room. No more hitting your knee on sharp corners!
Lydia Geisel designed this incredible home (the transformation is just wow!). Domino magazine shared the whole tour of the process. Adding these arches to what was regular rectangular cut-outs now makes the space feel more welcoming rather than competing with all the angles in this room. The round dining table adds to that softness.
5. Japandi Style
I’ve written a few posts about Japandi style now and it’s definitely a trend we are seeing more and more of. It’s warm minimalism which I like, less decor items but lots of warmth.
This bedroom from @maandpartners combines detail in the ceiling but minimal coziness throughout the room.
I love how @our_japandi_home has exuded warmth and minimalism in her Japandi style dining room.
6. Mid-Century Furniture
You can see MCM furniture at every furniture store and it’s very popular. You can find the real thing online and at antique stores but if you’d rather look for different colors (rather than the usual orange/red teak woods), there are endless options out to buy. They also mix well with most interior design styles.
Chris Loves Julia nailed it with this piece of furniture in their entry way.
When you buy new MCM dining chairs and table you get updated fabrics and longer tables and lots of different wood choices.
7. Luxurious Deep Earth and Jewel Tones
Good-bye to the grey on grey on grey and welcome more beiges, taupes and earth tones.
Moore House Design always executes these colors and tones seamlessly.
I know Haneen from way back when when we went to the Haven conferences in Atlanta and the BHG Stylemaker events. She has amazing style and this room is no exception. @haneens_haven knows how to use dark, warm colors in her home.
Which room do you like best? And do you think you’ll be hopping on any of these fall trends? I like to think these trends are here to stay for some time. If you always decorate with what you love, it won’t go out of style.
