Yep, it’s true. I love museums. My love of vintage runs deep and it’s always been with me since I was little.
Whenever me and my family went on a road trip, I’d make my parents pull over to every little museum. I think my sister died of boredom.
But what I really love are the museums that show the way people used to live.
Especially villages with their stores and houses.
I’m in complete heaven!
A few months ago I went on a field trip with my daughter and I think I was the most excited person there.
Which isn’t hard with a class full of three-year-olds in a museum.
Because it’s summer vacation, I thought it was the perfect time to show you this little village.
It’s called the Burnaby Village Museum and only about a 30 minute drive away from where I live.
Bell’s Dry Goods store is the cutest!
I would love to shop in a store like this.
Or live there. Wouldn’t it be the cutest house?
The shop owner would have lived in the back.
Here’s the tiny bedroom.
And tiny kitchen. So cute.
The employees of the museum are in full costume as they walk around and be the complete character they are supposed to be.
Think Disney characters but more serious.
Sweet ride! I would love to be chauffeured around in this.
Another favourite of mine was the bank.
Love the bank manager’s office. The light fixture, the desk, all that wood.
I want this filing cabinet!!
I have a very similar typewriter myself.
Apparently this building was an actual bank that was put on a barge and sent to this museum.
I wish they sent it to me.
Another favourite building was the printing shop.
Look at those pieces of furniture!!
Love the green light fixture.
Watching that printer in action was very cool.
Be still my heart. I could take every one of these drawers with me.
And this desk.
I need to get my typewriter to work and I’d be set!
Mailed letters for everyone!
This is the cutest school house. I love the cedar siding.
There was only one thing that interested the three-year-olds and that was this real ice cream parlour. Oh and the carousel ride. The carousel was pretty cool. I think the ice cream was the highlight though.
