I pared down my fireplace mantel from previous years with new faux cedar garland.

I found this cedar garland at Canadian Tire but this garland from Pier 1 looks similar. The new look is a nice change!

Brass bells hanging on wall by Christmas tree.

I love these large bells hanging on the wall just with a Command Hook.

I’ve had these same Eiffel tower globe ornaments for 5 years now and they are still my favorite.

I love having the holiday wrapping paper out and ready to wrap a gift in the evening. Ribbon on wooden spools look just as pretty as decor.

Presents wrapped with kraft paper and green bow under the tree.

Here are the four ways I’ve decorated the living room for Christmas.

Kitchen

I paired down my decor in the kitchen too and went with natural elements like pine clippings and oranges in this large champagne bucket.

Oranges and greenery in big silver bowl on kitchen counter.
White kitchen, stove, bread boards on counter.

Nothing like fresh baking for a Christmas kitchen!

French bread boards on counter with cookies and bucket with oranges.

I love using vintage champagne buckets for floral arrangements and for these fragrant oranges.

I’ve edited the open shelves so that we have just our everyday cups and glasses and a few statement decor items.

White open shelves with little greenery trees on display.

I found the Christmas garland above the windows from a dollar store. I love the simplicity of them.

I shared two looks and a video of my dining room earlier this week, Scandinavian style.

French chandelier and cane backed chairs in dining room decorated for Christmas.

I love the cedar clippings and simple elegant touches.

The second look involved a beautiful red linen tablecloth. To see the whole tour, click my Scandinavian table here.

  1. Your home is stunning. I especially love how you change your mantle out each year. The bells on the wall are a really nice touch too.

  2. Beautiful Christmas tour!!! I have a forty year home and I’m constantly fixing up little things here and there. I’d love to refinish some antique chairs in that deconstructed look to add some character☺️

  3. There’s a glimpse of your area rug in your 2019 Christmas living room picture. I love the color tones. Would you mind telling me where you got it or if you know if it’s still available? I’m definitely liking the simple, relaxed Christmas look. Your home looks great.

  4. Your natural style makes me swoon! I need to maximize space, so looking to winning the decorating books for some new approaches.

  5. The dilemma I have is adding modern touches to a home with antique, vintage pieces. These book would hopefully give lots of inspirations.

    1. Yes! I love the same thing, Mae. I find that keeping things simple (not a lot of clutter) really helps to combine modern with vintage.

  6. Everything you do appeals to me, but I’m hoping the pendulum will swing back to a less austere look soon. I still love your 2017 Christmas dining room…and can’t believe that was two years ago! What an amazing giveaway! Count me in! Happy holidays and thanks so much!

  7. Everything looks beautiful and gets better every year! Thank you for sharing your home tour and the previous years too. Merry Christmas Jamie.

  8. I love your minimalist Christmas decor this year, Jamie… you are such an inspiration to me, girl. Your mantle gets an A+… stuuuning!!

  9. I’ve always loved a “fully decorated” look, however, this year, all of a sudden, I feel like there is just too much everywhere and I want a cleaner, less is more approach. I’m still gathering ideas on how to do this and love looking at books filled with ideas.

  10. I have toned down my Christmas decor over the last few years and I love it. I am always looking forward to reading your blog. You are a great inspiration my fellow Canadian. A very merry Christmas to you and your family!

    1. Thanks so much, Louise! And thanks so much for following my blog. I’m loving my pared down Christmas look this year too. It feels more relaxing without so much decorating! Have a wonderful Christmas this year too!

  11. I have an open concept kitchen, dining & living area so I’m looking for ways to improve the sight line when decorating so it looks cohesive. Merry Christmas!

  12. Not sure how to enter the contest but here’s the post comment! I love how your “look” changes but remains true to your love for the French look and feel, Jamie! I too am a lover of that style, the way that a few simple but beautiful items really up the ante. I have paired back too, in my store, C’est Cheese Please! I have a look that I call “In The Garden” with topiaries (Rosemary, lavender and that lovely pop of a Lemon Cyprus), a few bottle brush Christmas trees and white cyclamen and white mini poinsettias. Along with marble cheese boards and this gorgeous green throw, it looks quiet and festive but simple and could take one through the winter season whilst we dream of spring and the garden waking up! A new book to be inspired by through the wintery nights would be a lovely thing to look forward to the New Year too! I also love the prints and will download those, thank you so much! Have a wonderful Christmas, Jamie with your now husband!!

    1. Thanks Wendi, what a sweet comment. Your look ‘In the Garden’ sounds lovely. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family too!
      Hugs, Jamie
